It's Macadamia Time!

Macadamia Nuts
Our Macadamia trees are proving to be a very good provider of delicious nuts. They have been very vigorous this year and both varieties have put on a wonderful colour show of fresh green leaves, beautiful pink and white racemes hanging down and of course lot's of nuts! It can be quite a challenge husking  a bucketful of nuts, but cracking them is also a major event!

You have to have a "Maca Cracker" or else you will be doomed to failure. I know some folk bash them with a hammer in desperation, but all you get from that routine is lot's of little broken shells and lot's of little broken pieces of nuts. I may have to invest in a bigger cracker as the trees are certainly producing more nuts than we can eat!

Pink Racemes

Macadamia nuts are a great addition to home baking and I will endeavour to find some decent ways of using them in the future. Hopefuuly once I find something suitable I can pass them over to my Lyn as she is a great "home baking" expert. I remain the family self appointed "taster" as I believe my experience at "quality control" is superior to the others. Look out for a recipe or two in the near future.
